Studio Other Spaces contacted ArtEngineering for computational engineering, digital fabrication, and logistics. I became involved in the project mid-development, after digital fabrication had already started. It was this very project that ultimately secured my position at ArtEngineering.

Computational Design

Initially, they needed someone to quickly export around 1.5 thousand 2D drawings from Rhino/Grasshopper to be sent for digital fabrication using a plasma cutter. This first task was finished in 2 days. They were thrilled and decided to offer me a full-time position. At the time, I was finishing my ITECH master’s degree and was still working as an intern for another company. So this offer came just in time as a no-brainer. When I joined, Alexander Spänig was the project manager, so I worked closely with him for the next six months on this project. I mainly used Grasshopper and the plugin Sandbox Topology from Tobias Schwinn, who coincidentally was my tutor at the ITECH masters.
